Design and Engineering
Since the deregulation of the Electricity Supply Industry in 1990, the local Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s) have worked to reduce their operating costs whilst ensuring continuity and quality of supply to their customers.
One way this is achieved is to pass particular tasks and areas of work to outside consultants and contractors. This enables the risk of excess costs to be reduced with fixed price works, whilst enabling the control and management to remain within the utility company.
Whilst LHV Systems can offer many different facets, one area of expertise is the Engineering and Design of substations.
LHV Systems has built up an Engineering Design office with expertise andexperience at all voltage levels from 11kV through to 400kV, in the Transmission & Distribution, Petrochemical, Power Station, MOD and Renewable Generation fields of the electrical power industry, both in the UK and overseas.
The office in Manchester is equipped with up to date CAD facilities including Raster conversion packages, full colour A0 printers and copiers and a technical data library.
This expertise can be offered to clients in a comprehensive Engineering and Design package to include -
- Upfront feasibility studies to evaluate system design options
- Technical reports as required for capital spend approval
- Initial keyline diagrams to assess plant and protection requirements
- Detailed protection and metering single line diagrams
- System change diagrams
